For Immediate Release This is a hard-won victory for millions of patients and families throughout America, and a well-deserved defeat for HMOs and the Republican extremists in the House who put managed care profits ahead of patients' health. The Senate flunked this test in July, but the House has given us a new chance to do the right thing. The House-Senate conference should adopt the Norwood-Dingell provisions, without the costly and ineffective tax breaks added by House Republicans. |
