Key Manufacturing Vote Card - Patients' Bill of Rights
(Senate)
July 13,
1999
Dear Senator:
On behalf of the 14,000 members of the
National Association of Manufacturers (NAM), including approximately
10,000 small and medium manufacturers, I urge you to consider the
potentially devastating effects of so-called health care reform
legislation as you begin to debate this issue.
The NAM will consider votes throughout
this debate as candidates for designation as key manufacturing
votes. These votes may include – but are not limited to – the
following issues:
The patients’ Bill of Rights Act
(S.6 or S. 1256) or significant elements of the Patients’ Bill
of Rights Act;
Any form of health care liability
for employers or health plans;
"Medical necessity"
mandates;
Point- of- service
mandates;
Benefit mandates such as full
mental health parity; and
Relaxing antitrust restrictions on
collective bargaining by physicians.
We will make every effort to notify you
again in advance of any specific votes that meet the stated
criteria.
Sincerely, Jerry
Jasinowski President
*Votes considered for

by our members who serve on the Key Vote Advisory Committee.
