1) ONLY A FEW WEEKS LEFT TO PASS A STRONG PATIENTS' BILL OF RIGHTS
In June, the conference committee on managed care appointed to hammer out a final patients' bill of rights stalled. With little hope of the committee process producing a strong bill this session, Congress then went on summer recess. Now the Senate is back in session. With only a few short weeks left before they head off to the campaign trail, this is their LAST chance to act on patient protections. It's important to urge your Senators to vote for real patient protections! Please visit our "Take Action" section today and let your senator know you want a real patients' bill of rights! In San Francisco: Thursday, October 12, 2000 will mark our first annual luncheon in the Bay Area as we celebrate women, work and families. Judith L. Lichtman, President of the National Partnership, will deliver keynote remarks and recognize Senator Diane Feinstein and Senator Barbara Boxer for their extraordinary achievements for American women.
