ONLY ONE BILL PROTECTS PATIENTS, NOT PROFITS:
NORWOOD-DINGELL

Statement by Judith L. Lichtman, President
National Partnership for Women & Families

Congress has an important choice to make: Give patients the protections they need or let the insurance industry have the loopholes and exemptions they want. Only one bill protects patients and not profits -- the bipartisan Norwood-Dingell bill.

Nearly 300 organizations representing millions of Americans support this bill. Patients. Doctors. Nurses. Working people. People of faith. People with disabilities. All have endorsed it. The President has, too.

For women and families, the choice is clear. Only the Norwood-Dingell bill will get the job done. It has strong protections, real accountability. It’s the right medicine for what ails us.

With cosponsors from both sides of the aisle, the Norwood-Dingell bill will pass the House. But the opposition will stop at nothing to gut it or load it up with "poison pills." To the House leadership we say: Don’t sabotage patients’ rights. Don’t play games with America’s health.
