EHDI National Database

The Directors of Speech and Hearing Program in State Health and Welfare Agencies (DSHPSHWA) formed a task force in 1995 to determine which data items should be included in a national database for early hearing detection and intervention. In 1998, CDC began sponsoring monthly teleconferences for the DSHPSWA group and their consultants to discuss the items and their definitions. The following list was agreed on in October 1999.
