A BILL
To amend title XVIII of the Social Security Act to provide for more
equitable payments for direct graduate medical education under the Medicare
Program.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United
States of America in Congress assembled,
SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE.
This Act may be cited as the `Direct Graduate Medical Education Equity Act
of 2000'.
SEC. 2. FISCAL YEAR 2001 FLOOR SET AT 100 PERCENT OF LOCALITY ADJUSTED
NATIONAL AVERAGE PER RESIDENT AMOUNT.
(a) ESTABLISHING FY01 FLOOR AT 100 PERCENT-
(1) IN GENERAL- Clause (iii) of section 1886(h)(2)(D) of the Social
Security Act (42 U.S.C. 1395ww(h)(2)(D)) is amended by striking `70 percent'
and inserting `100 percent'.
(2) CONFORMING AMENDMENT- The heading of such clause is amended by
striking `70 PERCENT' and inserting `100 PERCENT'.
(b) EFFECTIVE DATE- The amendments made by subsection (a) shall apply as
if included in the enactment of the Medicare, Medicaid, and SCHIP Balanced
Budget Refinement Act of 1999 (Public Law 106-113).
