AHCPR Reauthorization Signed by President

President Clington Dec. 6 signed the AHCPR reauthorization (S. 580) changing the Agency's name to the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ). The law reauthorizes AHRQ through 2005 and provides for increased research on health care delivery to special populations and a new emphasis on health care quality improvement. The law also authorizes funds for children's hospitals graduate medical education grants. (see Washington Highlights, Dec. 3)
