MEDICAL EDUCATION: The World Standard of Excellence.
The AMA takes an active role in evaluating and accrediting medical schools, residency programs, and continuing medical education. The AMA's system of AMA Physicians Recognition Award (PRA) credit sets the standards for CME in the USA and the world. As an advocate for physicians-in-training and physicians-in-practice, we work to:

	Promote the best possible educational environment for medical students and residents
	Provide continuous learning opportunities throughout a physician's practice lifetime
	Ensure that curricula in all phases of medical education meet students' and practitioners' needs
	Control escalating financial obligations for medical students and residents
	Ensure adequate funding for graduate medical education
	Ensure that opportunities exist for continuing professional development throughout a physician's lifetime
	Promote the use of the Internet as a resource for all phases of a physician's career
	Create specific products on the Internet, and by other modalities, to assist students and physicians at all levels: FREIDA, CME Locator, CME Activity Survey
