Maloney Announces Defense Authorizations

Washington, D.C. -- Working to provide for the nation=s security, for the men and women of the U.S. Armed Forces, and in support of the jobs of Connecticut=s defense workers, Congressman Jim Maloney (CT-05) announced today that he has worked to secure the following defense projects for Connecticut contractors.

AFollowing considerable work over the past three months, I am glad to report as a member of the House Armed Services Committee, that we have approved the National Defense Authorization Act for FY 2001,@ said Congressman Maloney.

AThe bill which I strongly supported, protects our men and women in uniform and their families, safeguards our nations combat readiness, and advances our Armed Forces= modernization efforts. Finally, the defense bill provides funding for Connecticut=s military contractors, both large and small, assuring that thousands of Connecticut jobs are protected. In several cases, additional funding beyond the President=s budget proposal was authorized by committee,@ said Maloney.

AI will continue working to ensure that the goals of Connecticut=s defense industry are met,@ said Congressman Maloney.
