CompTel Thanks Chairman Bliley for Vision and Commitment
to
Pro-Competitive Telecommunications Landscape
The following statement should be attributed to H. Russell Frisby, Jr., President, Competitive Telecommunications Association (CompTel):
On behalf of CompTel, its members and staff, I want to express my deepest gratitude to U.S. Rep. Thomas J. Bliley, Jr. (R-Va.), Chairman, House Commerce Committee, for his many years of outstanding contribution to the development of solid, sensible telecommunications policies that have benefited competitive telecommunications service providers, their suppliers, and – most importantly – American consumers.
Chairman Bliley recently received CompTel’s Champion of Competition award at the association’s first annual CEO Summit. In presenting this award we noted that the Chairman has always demonstrated remarkable vision and the type of commitment that is vital to guaranteeing that competition continues to be the driving force behind the evolution of the telecommunications industry. Chairman Bliley truly earned his leadership role in helping to ensure that the pro-competitive goals of the 1996 Telecommunications Act are met. We at CompTel wish him all the best in his future endeavors.
