Petroleum Industry Proposes Regulations For Cleaner Fuels
The petroleum industry wants to build on the progress it has made providing cleaner burning fuels to the nation. As the next step, the industry is proposing regulations for two new lower sulfur gasolines, tailored to address air quality problems of varying seriousness - at reasonable cost to consumers. These fuels would reduce emissions that contribute to air pollution problems, in part by making it easier for automakers to design cars that meet more stringent future tailpipe emission standards.
