SUMMARY:
Committee Serial No. 106-118. Hearing before the Subcom on Telecommunications, Trade, and Consumer Protection to examine FCC Jan. 20, 2000 report and order, authorizing the licensing of two new classes of low-power FM (LPFM) radio stations for operation on a noncommercial, educational basis, including provisions to provide for separation of LPFM stations from full power stations operating on the same channel, on adjacent channels, and on intermediate frequency channels.
 
Also considers H.R. 3439, the Radio Broadcasting Preservation Act of 1999, to prohibit FCC from establishing rules to authorize the operation of new LPFM radio stations.
