Are You Tired of YOUR Radio Waves Being Dominated by Corporations Looking to Make a Buck?

Are You Tired of Being Pigeonholed into a “Demographic?”

Are You Ready to Hear Something Different on the Radio?

You Can Do Something About it:  Support Low Power Radio!

Commercial Radio is all about one thing:  selling advertising

 Community Radio is something else:

-  programming by local governments, educational institutions, community groups, churches and arts organizations

-           music programmed not for corporate profit, but for love of the art

-           local discussions, on local topics

The FCC is considering creating a new class of low-cost, low-power FM radio stations.  The corporate broadcasters are trying to stop them.  The Low Power Radio Coalition is a grassroots campaign trying to make sure the corporations don’t get their way.  If we are successful, a new class of Low Power FM licenses will make it possible for all these types of groups to access the FM band!

What can you do?

1.      Visit the Low Power Radio Coalition’s website:  www.lowpowerradio.org.

2.      Write or call your Congressman and Senators.  Tell them why access to radio is important to you.

3.      Attend one of the participating concerts in the “Left Off the Dial:   10 Days for Low Power FM” series.   There will be over 55 concerts in 38 cities – go to our website for a list of artists, dates and times.

4.      Raise money for the campaign.

5.      Assist local organizations working to get Low Power licenses passed – there are groups in most major cities already.

Email the Low Power Radio Coalition and tell us how you’d like to help.

The airwaves belong to us…and we are going to take them back.
