SUMMARY:
Committee Serial No.
106-115. Hearings to consider proposals to revise the Federal
tax system, including proposals to revise or eliminate the
income tax system (Committee advisories, p. 2-4).
Considers:
H.R. 2525, the Fair Tax
Act of 1999, to replace all individual and corporate income
taxes, payroll taxes, self-employment
taxes, capital gains taxes, and death and gift
taxes with a 23% FairTax national retail sales
tax on goods and services sold to consumers, and to permit the
States to administer the FairTax on behalf of the Federal Government.
H.R. 134, the Simplified USA Tax Act, to
revise the Federal tax system, including provisions to allow
taxpayers to make unlimited contributions of after-tax income
to USA Roth individual retirement accounts.
H.R. 1040, to
replace the current tax system with a flat-rate income
tax applicable to individuals and businesses.
H.R. 2001, the National Retail Sales Tax
Act of 1999, to replace the current tax system with a 15% sales
tax on the retail purchase of all goods and services.
