60 Plus is happy to note that more and more members of Congress from both parties are joining the fight everyday to kill the Death Tax once and for all.  60 Plus decided to recognize the leadership of those members of Congress who are working to repeal the Death Tax with a new award, the Benjamin Franklin Award.

One of Benjamin Franklin’s most famous statements was, “In this world nothing can be said to be certain, except death and taxes”.  However, today because of the existence of the Death Tax, Franklin’s axiom is no longer true because the Death Tax adds a third certainty, taxes after death. The Benjamin Franklin Award honors those fighting to eliminate this third certainty, the Death Tax, by repealing it.

The Benjamin Franklin Award was an overwhelming success.  Many members of Congress were able to use the award to promote Death Tax repeal in their districts and states.  But most importantly, the award served to show once again the Death Tax repeal is a popular issue and that the time for repeal is now!
