NCBA and other members of the Death Tax Coalition will hold a summit in early June at the Washington D.C. Democratic Club to garner support for death tax repeal.

The House is expected to vote on death tax legislation after the Memorial Day recess. Currently several pieces of Senate and House legislation contain provisions that provide significant tax relief to cattle producers and other small business owners.

“Getting legislation passed that moves toward providing significant tax relief remains a top NCBA priority,” said Dale Moore, legislative affairs director for NCBA. “Presenting arguments that clearly indicate why the death tax is an unfair burden on small businesses is key to gaining support among untraditional allies.

“For cattle producers elimination of the death tax is critical because often families aren’t able to pass their farms and ranches from on generation to the next due to extremely high tax obligations, not to mention the annual cost burden of estate planning,” Moore said.
