Nashville, June 21,
2000 -- Jack Faris, president of the
small-business group NFIB, today issued the
following statement in response to Vice
President Al Gore's death-tax
announcement: "While small business
appreciates the Vice President's attempt to hop
aboard our death-tax-relief bandwagon, we must
continue to urge him to support full repeal so
all small businesses can get the relief they
need from this punitive tax. "The Vice
President claims that his plan will end the
death-tax nightmare for 70 percent of
small-business owners, but why stop there?
Surely, anyone with a family farm in Tennessee
must know that the job isn't done until
100percent of the cows are milked, 100 percent
of the hay is baled and 100 percent of the
tobacco is cut. Likewise, we should not be
content until 100 percent of family farmers,
ranchers and small-business owners are free from
this death tax." Contact: Ed Frank
