SUMMARY:
Committee Serial No. 106-102. Hearing before the Subcom on Social Security to examine the social security Government pension offset, under which any social security spousal benefits to which certain retired Federal, State, and local government employees may be entitled are reduced by two-thirds of the value of their Government pensions (Subcom advisory, p. 2-3).
 
Considers H.R. 1217, to waive application of the Government pension offset for certain individuals to ensure that the combined monthly social security spousal benefit and Government pension benefit equals a minimum of 1,200.
