SUMMARY:
Hearings to consider the
following bills:
S. 25, the Conservation and
Reinvestment Act of 1999, to reallocate a portion of outer continental
shelf (OCS) oil and gas leasing revenues to the Land and Water
Conservation Fund (LWCF), which provides grants to State and
local governments for park and recreation development and fish and wildlife
conservation programs, and to increase funding for the urban
parks and recreation recovery program (UPARR).
S. 446, the
Resources 2000 Act, to amend the National Historic Preservation Act to establish
permanent appropriations for the Historic Preservation Fund (HPF) from OCS oil
and gas leasing revenues for State and tribal historic preservation and wildlife
conservation activities.
S. 532, the
Public Land and Recreation Investment Act of 1999, to amend the National
Historic Preservation Act to reallocate OCS oil and gas leasing revenues to HPF
and LWCF.
S. 819, the National Park Preservation Act, to
authorize the National Park Service to use a portion of OCS oil and gas drilling
revenues for national parks conservation and restoration
projects.
Briefly examines Administration lands legacy
initiative, focusing on proposal to establish a permanent fund for Federal,
State, local and tribal government natural resources
conservation programs.
