House floor action on HR701/CARA (the Conservation and Reinvestment Act) is set for the House floor on Thursday of this week!

Please call your member of congress by mid-day Thursday. Ask them to vote "YES" on CARA -- "YES" for Parks and Open Space.

HR701/CARA will set aside $2.8 billion for the outdoors, including guaranteeing funding for the Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF), building urban parks, preserving open space, and protecting wildlife. Passage of this legislation is ORCA's highest priority for 2000.

Many amendments will be offered to the bill, most of which will severely damage the bill. Ask your Member of Congress, to Vote "Yes" on CARA and to support the bill managers on the House floor.
