The Week Ahead
BODY:
During the week of Sept. 18, the House and Senate are
hoping to pick up the pace on appropriations bills and conference
reports, since the new fiscal year begins on Oct. 1. The House is
also expected to take up the Defense Department authorization
conference report. At press time, a spokesman for Senate Majority
Leader Trent Lott, R-Miss., said a final vote on legislation
granting
permanent normal trade
relations to China was expected
on Sept. 19.
