The Honorable William Roth
Chairman
Committee on Finance
U.S. Senate
Washington, DC 20510

Dear Chairman Roth:

Thank you very much for your vote in the Senate Finance Committee in favor of S. 2277, granting Permanent Normal Trade Relations (PNTR) status to China. Your support is greatly appreciated, and will be essential for final approval of this critically important legislation.

Granting PNTR is, without question, the most important vote of the decade. China is the world's single most promising emerging market for the U.S. electronics industry. As China enters the Information Age, it will purchase more high-tech equipment from the world's largest supplier -- the United States. Furthermore, the practical effect of China's adherence to its WTO commitments will be of significant benefit to U.S. workers, as well as to the cause of political and economic reform within China.

This week's overwhelming Committee action provides critical momentum for PNTR when the measure reaches the House and Senate Floors. I look forward to working with you to ensure final approval. Please do not hesitate to contact me at (703) 907-7506 if I can be of assistance.

Sincerely,

Dave McCurdy
President
