TIA
also partnered with the sectors of the Electronic Industry Alliance
to generate over 10,000 letters to members of congress in a
high-tech grass roots lobbying campaign. TIA also helped to organize
briefings on Capitol Hill for undecided members leading up to the
May 24 vote.
The association has for years been working to
gain advantage for U.S. companies seeking to do business in the
Asia-Pacific region. In addition to pushing for normalized trade
relations with China, TIA helps communications firms gain access to
the Chinese market via its affiliate office, the U.S. Information
Technology Office (USITO), in Beijing and by sponsoring
international trade shows.
Due to U.S. companies' strong
interest in the China and Asia-Pacific markets, TIA announced in
October 1999 that it would launch PT SUPERCOMM ASIA 2001. To be held
April 25 - 28, 2001, in Shanghai, PT SUPERCOMM ASIA represents a
major initiative for TIA in China and the Asian communications
market. It will be a world-class event that will help the region
meet its ambitious telecom goals.
