Cabinet Secretaries Daley and Summers Featured
Speakers at Electronics Industry Spring Conference
Both will address trade with China, the high tech
industry's #1 legislative priority
Arlington, Va. -- The Telecommunications
Industry Association [TIA] and the Electronic Industries
Alliance [EIA] announced yesterday that two members of
the President's Cabinet, United States Secretary of
Commerce William M. Daley and United States Secretary of
the Treasury Lawrence H. Summers will be keynote
speakers at their Spring Conference being held March
13-15, 2000 at the Mayflower Hotel in Washington, D.C.
Secretary Daley will keynote the Government/Industry
Dinner on March 14 (7:00 pm - 10:00 pm) an event
expected to attract hundreds of senior executives
representing the U.S. electronics industry and the
federal government. Daley will discuss the need for
permanent normal trade relations (PNTR) with China.
Secretary Summers will keynote the luncheon on March
14 (12:00 pm - 1:30 pm). Summers will also address the
need for PNTR with China.
The Spring Conference - comprised of nearly 100
meetings, seminars, briefings and special events - is
focusing on how vital open trade is to the growth and
continued global competitiveness of the U.S. electronics
industry.
The lunch and dinner on March 14th are open press
events.
