China PNTR and U.S. Agriculture
ALL LIVING FORMER AGRICULTURE SECRETARIES SPEAK OUT
Part of a Continuing Series from the Business Coalition for U.S.-China Trade

"While the rest of the nation has enjoyed unprecedented prosperity, agriculture is facing its third consecutive year of low prices and economic sluggishness. Agriculture is highly dependent on exports, more than twice as much as other sectors of the economy... By rejecting PNTR, we would be walking away from an increase of approximately $2 billion in annual farm sales. It would amount to a kind of unilateral economic disarmament... it would also be an irresponsible abdication of American global leadership."
