Congressman Walden Receives Sterling 100% Voting Record

Complements Perfect Small Business Record Announced Earlier

WASHINGTON, DC Congressman Greg Walden recently received a perfect 11 for 11 key vote score from the Oregon Farm Bureau for 1999. The scored votes occurred on issues including: limiting federal mandates, wildlife predator control, agriculture appropriations, ergonomics regulation, tax relief, and regulatory cost-benefit analysis.

"In the House, the Farm Bureau had 11 critical votes… Rep. Walden led the (Oregon) House delegation with a sterling 100 percent on these votes," the Oregon Farm Bureau News said in announcing the scoring.

"I am very proud of my voting record on agriculture issues in the House of Representatives. Having grown up on a cherry orchard in The Dalles, Oregon, I have been close to agriculture all my life. Agriculture produces some $1.24 billion in sales in the 20 counties of the Second District, making it a crucial component of our rural economy," Walden said. "I will continue to use my seat on the House Committee on Agriculture, as well as my vote on the floor of the House to strongly support and promote pro-farm and ranch policies from Washington, D.C. Estate tax relief and sensible regulatory reform are important to Oregon farmers and ranchers, and I will keep fighting for these positions."

Walden was the only member of the Oregon House delegation to receive a 100% rating from the Farm Bureau.

The announcement comes on the heels of Walden receiving a perfect small business voting record from the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) earlier this week.

"Receiving this positive response from the NFIB and the Farm Bureau is very important to me. These groups represent the farmers, ranchers and small business owners and employees who form the backbone of the economy in southern, central and eastern Oregon," Walden said.

Congressman Walden represents the Second Congressional District of Oregon, which includes the 20 counties of southern, central and eastern Oregon. Rep. Walden is a member of the House Energy and Commerce Committee and the the House Committee on Resources.
