The federal predator control agency has dropped a plan to shoot coyotes from aircraft in the Castle Peaks wilderness study area near Glenwood Springs, the Bureau of Land Management said Friday.

Rancher Dennis Winn, who oversees herds of sheep owned by Avon developer Magnus Lindholm, told the federal wildlife service agency that he had lost more than 2,000 sheep to coyotes since 1991 and wanted to used sharpshooters to cut the loss.
