NABP Awards Verified Internet Pharmacy Practice Sites™ (VIPPS™) Certification to HealthScript 7/26/00 HealthScript Pharmacy Services, Inc (HealthScript), a wholly owned subsidiary of San Diego, Calif-based Dura Pharmaceuticals, Inc, has become the seventh online pharmacy to receive Verified Internet Pharmacy Practice Sites™ (VIPPS™) certification from the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy (NABP). HealthScript’s Web site is located at http://www.healthscript.com/.
“NABP is pleased to add healthscript.com to the list of VIPPS-certified Web sites,” says Jerry Moore, NABP president. “The VIPPS seal attests that HealthScript is properly licensed with the appropriate state boards of pharmacy, and has met a rigorous 17-point criteria review that considers patient confidentiality, security of prescriptions, a quality assurance program, and patient-pharmacist consultation.”
As a VIPPS-certified site, healthscript.com may display the VIPPS hyperlink seal of approval on its Web site. By clicking on the VIPPS seal, consumers will be able to find the verified information they need to make informed decisions regarding their choice of online pharmacies. Consumers may also access the VIPPS database directly via NABP’s Web site.
“HealthScript consistently meets the highest industry standards in business and pharmacy practice, and believes NABP’s voluntary VIPPS certification program validates those high standards,” says Jeff Kimmell, RPh, senior director, operations. “In the rapidly expanding Internet marketplace, HealthScript considers VIPPS certification critical in maintaining its position as a leader in the pharmacy industry.”
HealthScript opened in 1990 as a national respiratory pharmacy specializing in providing respiratory and diabetic products to Medicare clients. Today, the company offers prescription services, over-the-counter health and wellness products, and medical products for the chronically ill. HealthScript’s Web site includes a mail order pharmacy, as well as health-related information and other tools designed to help its customers make informed decisions.
Participation in the VIPPS certification program is voluntary. The program was developed to provide consumers with reliable means to identify those online pharmacies that have proven their preparedness to meet the unique challenges of the practice of pharmacy via the Internet.
