NABP Awards VIPPS Certification to VitaRx.com

11/23/00

VitaRx.com is the most recent online pharmacy to receive Verified Internet Pharmacy Practice Sites (VIPPS) certification from the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy (NABP). VitaRx’s Web site is located at http://www.vitarx.com/.

“NABP is pleased to award VIPPS certification to VitaRx.com,” says NABP President Jerry Moore. “The VIPPS program, together with the hyperlinked seal, provide a measure of trust to consumers who need to be certain that the prescription medications they receive are from legitimate online pharmacies. By complying with the stringent criteria of the VIPPS online pharmacy certification program, VitaRx.com has demonstrated its commitment to the philosophy of the VIPPS program.”

As a VIPPS-certified site, VitaRx.com may display the VIPPS hyperlink seal of approval on its Web site. By clicking on the VIPPS seal, consumers will be able to find the verified information they need to make informed decisions regarding their choice of online pharmacies. Consumers may also access the VIPPS database directly via NABP’s Web site at www.nabp.net. “We are dedicated to providing the highest quality of service for our managed care patients, and the VIPPS certification reinforces that dedication,” says Anthony Trimboli, chief executive officer of VitaRx.com. “The patients we serve, and the managed care organizations we contact, can take comfort in knowing that we measure up to the high standards of the VIPPS program.”

VitaRx.com, based in Jefferson, La, was established in 1998 as a specialty pharmacy provider focusing on injectable medications. The site caters to managed care providers and members and offers a range of services including online prescriptions and refill submission. The site also has bulletin boards to “Ask a Nurse” and “Ask a Pharmacist” questions. For disease-specific information, the users can browse the “Disease Support Center.”

Participation in the VIPPS certification program is voluntary. The program was developed to provide consumers with reliable means to identify those online pharmacies that have proven their preparedness to meet the unique challenges of the practice of pharmacy via the Internet.
