NABP Awards VIPPS Online Pharmacy Certification to CVS.com Seattle-based CVS.com has become the most recent pharmacy to be certified as a Verified Internet Pharmacy Practice Site (VIPPS) by NABP. The award of certification permits CVS.com to display the VIPPS hyperlink seal of approval on its Web site. The VIPPS seal attests that CVS.com is appropriately licensed and has met a rigorous 17-point criteria review that considers patient confidentiality, security of prescriptions, a quality assurance program, and patient-pharmacist consultation. By clicking on the seal, consumers will find the verified information they need to make informed decisions regarding their choice of online pharmacies. Consumers may also access the VIPPS database directly via NABP's Web site at http://www.nabp.net/. Participation in the VIPPS certification program is voluntary. The program was developed to provide consumers with a reliable means to identify those online pharmacies that have proven their ability and authorization to dispense pharmaceuticals to the public in the jurisdictions listed on the VIPPS Web site. "NABP is pleased to award VIPPS certification to CVS.com," said NABP President Dyke F. Anderson. "The VIPPS program, together with the hyperlinked seal, provide a measure of trust to consumers who need to be certain that the prescription medications they receive are from legitimate online pharmacies. By complying with the stringent criteria and ideals of the VIPPS online pharmacy certification program, CVS.com has demonstrated its commitment to the philosophy behind that trust." Comments?
