Grassley and Gekas Announce Historic Joint Hearing on Bankruptcy Reform

Washington, DC - Senator Chuck Grassley (R-IA) and Representative George W. Gekas (R-PA) will hold a joint hearing this week of the Senate Judiciary Administrative Oversight and the Courts Subcommittee, of which Sen. Grassley is Chairman, and House Judiciary Commercial and Administrative Law Subcommittee, of which Rep. Gekas is Chairman. The hearing will be the first joint hearing on bankruptcy reform in 61 years.

The joint hearing will feature testimony of witnesses regarding bankruptcy reform, including Judge Edith Jones of the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals and member of the National Bankruptcy Review Commission. Elizabeth Warren of Harvard Law School has been invited to testify. Sen. Grassley plans to introduce a Senate bill this week. Rep. Gekas introduced H.R. 833 on February 24.
