Bankruptcy Update

Senate Majority Leader Lott (R-Miss.) is still indicating he intends to bring up bankruptcy reform legislation for another cloture vote before the session ends; it being the last legislative business this session. Prior to adjourning until December 5th, House leaders pulled from their schedule H.R. 5539, extending Chapter 12 bankruptcy protection temporarily. The legislation was pulled apparently because House Judiciary Committee members opposed it going forward since it did not contain the temporary judgeships that were included in an earlier version of the Chapter 12 extension which was approved by the House.
