McCAIN STATEMENT ON FAA REAUTHORIZATION

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Senator John McCain (R-AZ), Chairman of the Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation, made the following statement after negotiations over funding for aviation programs broke down last night:

"I am disappointed the House and Senate could not work out an agreement on the budgetary issues in the FAA reauthorization bill. It is truly unfortunate that new safety initiatives will be stalled. Also, the air traveling consumer will have to wait once again for crucial competition enhancement provisions to take effect. I will continue to fight for better access to the nation's largest airports so that new entrants can compete with the major airlines and bring enormous benefits to consumers."
