Sample Letter: Ask Hastert and Lott to Stop Ergonomics Before
Recess
Oct. 18, 2000
Please write two separate
letters.
The Honorable Dennis Hastert Speaker of the
House of Representatives H-232 Capitol Building Washington,
DC 20515 |
The Honorable Trent Lott Senate Majority
Leader S-230 Capitol Building Washington, DC
20510 |
Dear Mr. Speaker or Dear Senator Lott:
My company employs ____ workers and I am writing to strongly urge you
to include the Northup/Enzi ergonomics amendment in any final budget
agreement.
As you know, this amendment was passed with bipartisan support in both
the House and Senate. More importantly, this provision will prevent the
Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) from moving forward
with an unscientific regulation that will cost the trucking industry alone
$6 billion dollars annually.
As you conclude your negotiations over the federal budget, please
consider the devastating effect OSHA's proposed ergonomics regulations
will have on American businesses and their workers. Again, I strongly urge
you to include the Northup/Enzi ergonomics amendment in any final budget
agreement.
Sincerely,
(Your Name) (Company Name) (Company Address)
