Throughout NLADA's history, the involvement and participation of the
private bar and corporations has proven instrumental to the Association s
unprecedented success. The continuing participation of the private sector
in NLADA remains critical today, in light of the chronic inadequacy of
funding for civil and criminal legal assistance programs for the poor.
Many corporations serve as invaluable advocates for the NLADA mission
and provide essential support in the realization of the Association's
goals. In 1992, a number of general counsel from nation's leading
corporations gathered together to establish NLADA's Corporate
Advisory Council (CAC) to provide a formal mechanism to strengthen the
participation of the corporate sector in NLADA.
The private sector's continued support sustains NLADA's efforts on
behalf of over 2,500 community organizations and 25,000 individuals across
the country offering civil legal aid and criminal defender services to our
nation's poor. It also exemplifies affirmation of our nation's commitment
to equal justice and recognition that the burden of fulfilling that
commitment cannot be borne by the legal services community alone. If your
organization is interested in joining the partnership for equal justice,
