Hearing before the Subcom on Department Operations, Oversight, Nutrition, and
Forestry to review the impact on counties containing substantial
national forest lands of a reduction in Forest
Service 25 percent payments, as provided for by the act of 1908.
The act of 1908 required that the Federal Government share 25 percent of the
revenue derived from timber sales in national forests with
impacted communities, which would use the revenue to finance schools and local
road infrastructure.
