RICHMOND - Governor Jim Gilmore today
issued the following statement regarding Congressman John Kasich's
proposal to make permanent the current three-year ban on Internet
taxes:
"I believe the ban on Internet taxation proposed by
Congressman Kasich and the e-Freedom Coalition should be given
serious consideration by the Advisory Commission on Electronic
Commerce. It is encouraging to see another proposal that addresses
the needs of consumers, taxpayers and small businesses in the
Internet economy and one that reduces tax burdens on working men and
women. I firmly believe public policies should work to promote the
Internet's growth, not stifle it with burdensome
regulations."
