Breakfast Plenary: Can the Sales Tax Survive Cyberspace?
Burgeoning Internet commerce and its potential for undermining sales taxes is one of the biggest challenges facing state and local governments today. The U.S. Advisory Commission on Electronic Commerce, the group advising Congress on Internet issues, is holding its final meeting in late March and is expected to finalize its recommendations on this contentious issue. Join us for this very timely session as we explore the commission's findings and identify state options for modernizing sales tax in the digital age.

Pharmaceutical Costs: Can States Afford to Care?
(Joint with ASI Children, Families and Health Committee)

Debate is expanding over prescription drug costs and the effects on individuals and state coffers. This session will look at the growing number of state subsidy efforts through senior pharmacy assistance programs. It will also examine proposals and laws for discount, rebate and bulk purchasing.
