NRF’S E-COMMERCE AND INTERNET RETAILING INITIATIVES

As the world’s largest retail trade association, NRF is committed to assisting its membership -- department, specialty, discount, catalogue, Internet, and independent stores, as well as manufacturers selling direct -- fully leverage the Internet as a retail channel. Below is information on NRF’s many e-commerce and Internet retailing initiatives.

INTERNET RETAILING ADVISORY COUNCIL (IRAC)

At the core of NRF's Internet retailing initiatives is the Internet Retailing Advisory Council or IRAC. This retailer-only committee is made up of more than 40 Internet retailing executives from NRF's member companies.

NRF'S INTERNET COMMERCE COUNCIL (iCC)

NRF's Internet Commerce Council (iCC) is a group of Internet retailing technology companies whose mission is to assist NRF’s retail members' evaluation of e-commerce technologies that enable on-line customer service, marketing, and merchandising.

NRF/FORRESTER ON-LINE RETAIL INDEX

The NRF/Forrester Online Retail Index measures, on a monthly basis, the growth and seasonality of online shopping based on data collected from online shoppers. The Index is based on 5,000 responses to an online panel fielded by Greenfield Online during the first ten business days of each month.  Click here to see the latest results.

SUPPLY CHAIN ADVISORY COUNCIL

The Supply Chain Advisory Council meets to explore the changes technology is bringing to   retailing which will ultimately affect the efficiency of supply chain operations. The council investigates the effects of EDI, quick response and partnering on store operations. In addition, the council is developing benchmarking data to assist retailers in determining productivity standards for the flow of goods through the pipeline, and is also considering additional ideas for research to benefit the retail industry.
