Washington, D.C. -- Congressman Ernest Istook (R-OK) made the following statement regarding today’s Supreme Court rulings ruling on Nebraska's partial-birth abortion ban:

“The partial-birth abortion ruling proves that the Supreme Court is no longer following the Constitution. The pretense of interpreting the Constitution has become an excuse for robbing citizens of the right to govern themselves, including the right to decide what our laws will be. State after state agreed that this gruesome procedure is unnecessary and should be banned; yet the Court stretched the Constitution beyond recognition to rule otherwise.”
