-- Shows Praises House Leadership for Bringing this Bill to Floor for a Vote --

(WASHINGTON) - CONGRESSMAN RONNIE SHOWS (MS-04), A WHIP FOR THE BIPARTISAN CONGRESSIONAL PRO-LIFE CAUCUS, MADE ALL EFFORTS TODAY TO ENSURE THE PASSAGE OF HR 3660, THE PARTIAL BIRTH ABORTION BAN ACT. THE BILL PASSED THE CONGRESS BY A VOTE OF 287-141. THE SENATE HAS PASSED A SIMILAR VERSION, AND ONCE THE TWO BILLS ARE RECONCILED, THE MEASURE WILL BE SENT TO THE PRESIDENT FOR EITHER SIGNING INTO LAW OR VETOING.

"Voting to ban partial birth abortions was an important move today. The nation should be thankful for all in Congress who stood for life," stated Congressman Shows. "Our mission must be to always protect life and not support a culture of death manifested in the terrible act of abortion. The President should allow this bill to become law. The sanctity of human life can never be compromised."

Congressman Shows is a Whip on the bipartisan Congressional Pro-Life Caucus. He works daily to ensure that the lives of the unborn are protected in Congress. HR 3660, which passed the House today, has been vetoed by the President twice in previous sessions of Congress. Shows is grateful to the House leadership for continuing to bring this bill to the House floor for a vote. Shows will be sending a letter to the President stating his strong and unequivocal support of banning partial birth abortions. He will ask the President to reconsider his position and allow the bill to become law.

"Unborn children do not have a voice and are unable to protect themselves. Partial birth abortions are heinous and they must be stopped," stated Shows. "Our actions today will speak for the lives of millions of Americans. We must stand in faith and confidence that we can stop the act of taking the lives of the unborn. I thank to House Leadership for the vision and dedication to keep bringing this issue to the floor for a vote."
