THE RYAN REPORT

PP to provide financing for partial-birth abortionist

The pro-aborts' latest hero is Leroy Carhart. He's the abortionist who brought the lawsuit that resulted in the U.S. Supreme Court striking down the Nebraska ban on partial-birth abortions. Now he's in court again, fighting to keep the Bellevue, Nebraska, building that houses his clinic.

Carhart is no stranger to readers of The Ryan Report. We told you last February how he was instrumental in opening a Planned Parenthood facility in Bloomington, Indiana. We also let you know about his involvement in the baby body parts business.

Now, Planned Parenthood is apparently paying Carhart back for his long years of faithfully killing babies. Carhart is trying to save his clinic, which is housed in a building that was recently purchased by pro-lifers with the expressed purpose of evicting him.

According to the Omaha-World Herald (9/1), Carhart has challenged the May 15 purchase of the building by Sen. Paul Hartnett and two Bellevue businessmen. Carhart obtained a temporary injunction to stop his eviction by the new owners.

In court, on August 31, Carhart's attorney announced that the Planned Parenthood Federation of America adopted a resolution to buy the mortgage for the building for $325,000.

Should Judge William Zastera declare the May 15 purchase invalid, Carhart plans to buy the building and make mortgage payments directly to PP.

Although Carhart said that if he does purchase the building, he has no plans to open a Planned Parenthood clinic at the site, given his past history with the organization, it would appear PP sees this as an opportunity to maintain its involvement with the baby body parts business as well as providing it with an abortionist who has no problem killing babies through a practice even some pro-aborts call infanticide.

Planned Parenthood obviously sees this as a business decision.

PP wants church to pay for contraception

Planned Parenthood has been leading the fight for years to get individual states and the federal government to mandate that insurance companies that pay for prescription drugs must pay for birth control. It recently got California to pass just such a mandate.

On Aug. 19, The San Francisco Chronicle reported that the Catholic Church in California has started a major legal battle against that state's recently passed "Women's Contraceptive Equity Act," which requires diocesan health insurance plans to pay for contraception for employees of Catholic Charities and other Church organizations.

Predictably, Planned Parenthood opposes this move by the Church. The CEO of PP of California said of the bishops' efforts, "They want to take this religious exemption and apply it to entities whose primary purpose is not to inculcate religious beliefs. Our concern is for their employees who may not share those beliefs. They have a right to contraception. Their rights should not be infringed.''

And what about the Church's right not to be forced to violate its religious beliefs? California STOPP supporters are urged to contact their state representatives and demand that this outrageous law be rescinded. Supporters in other states should be aware that PP will try to force the same law on you.

PP's "McCondom" campaign

Just when you think you have seen it all when it comes to offensive PP gimmicks to promote its agenda, they come up with something new. On July 31, the Washington Times reported that Planned Parenthood in Akron, Ohio, is using McDonald's gift certificates as an incentive to promote condom use.

Planned Parenthood distributed a bright yellow coupon redeemable at PP offices in three Ohio counties for a dozen free condoms and a $5 McDonald's gift certificate. STOPP has requested the president of McDonald's Corporation to issue a statement that asks PP to stop using McDonald's gift certificates to promote condom use.

A senior manager responded to STOPP's request, "We have no plans to release a statement because this has nothing to do with McDonald's. McDonald's Corporation does not provide funding or support to Planned Parenthood. Further, McDonald's of Ohio did not endorse or support Planned Parenthood's efforts."

STOPP's point is that silence implies consent. If McDonald's doesn't speak out against this abuse of its good name by PP, this gimmick might spread to other regions. If you feel the same, you may contact Jack Greenberg, president, McDonald's Corp., McDonald's Plaza, Oak Brook, IL 60523. His fax is 630-623-6942.

PP's political activities

Recently, STOPP received a newspaper article about a member of the clergy who questioned how Planned Parenthood could get away with endorsing political candidates when it is classified as a non-profit organization. He made the point that, as a representative of his church, also a non-profit organization, he was prohibited from endorsing any candidate.

The answer to his question regarding this seeming contradiction is that there is a separate Planned Parenthood Action Fund (PPAF) which functions as its political arm. The president of this PPAF is Gloria Feldt, who is simultaneously the president of the Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA).

As long as Feldt makes political statements in her capacity as the president of PPAF, she violates no law. If she were to make the same statements as president of PPFA, she would violate the law. Sound fishy? PPFA, like most churches, has a tax-exempt status. This means that donors to PPFA can deduct their donations on their federal income tax forms in the same way STOPP supporters can deduct their donations to STOPP or their church. To maintain such a status, an organization cannot become actively involved in endorsing candidates.

Contributions to the Planned Parenthood Action Fund are not tax-deductible because they may be used for political purposes such as supporting and opposing candidates.

When Feldt kicked off the PPAF's anti-Bush campaign on July 12, she identified herself as president of PPAF. However, during most of the rest of her statement she just used the name "Planned Parenthood," making no distinction between the political arm and the federation itself. Thus, it is understandable that some people are confused about the legality of Planned Parenthood's political activity during the presidential campaign.

PP wants Ohio sex-ed grant

In an Aug. 12 letter to the Columbus Dispatch, Planned Parenthood of Central Ohio (PPCO) attacked state lawmakers for passing up a $1 million CDC grant, which included funds for sex education in schools. PPCO wants lawmakers to reapply.

PPCO said that it "would not receive any money from this grant." They would, however, profit indirectly. When PP-style sex-ed courses are instituted in a school, the result is increased sexual activity and a growing demand for the birth control drugs and devices PP sells. And when this birth control fails to prevent pregnancy, PP profits from the backup-abortion.

PPCO's 1998 IRS form 990, available from GuideStar, indicates that it had a total revenue that year of $4,205,073 and a whopping $2,002,535 profit! PPCO doesn't care about kids. It's about the money.

Planned Parenthood style sex-ed is the problem, not the solution, when it comes to teen sexual activity, teen pregnancy, abortion, and STDs. STOPP challenges PPCO to come up with any documented study that shows that sex-ed programs are effective in reducing any of these problems.

The state legislature did the right thing when it passed up the CDC grant. Let parents educate their own children on this delicate subject. They know what's best for their children.

STOPP supporters in Ohio are urged to keep up the pressure on the legislature so it doesn't cave in to PPCO's demands for reapplication. For more information contact Ohio Family Alliance at 877-632-5542.

A. Sanger seeking to defeat Colorado's Amendment 25

Alexander Sanger, the grandson of PP's founder Margaret Sanger, interrupted his Maine vacation to be the guest of honor at a Colorado fundraiser aimed at defeating Colorado's proposed Amendment 25, which would require a 24-hour waiting period and informed consent before a woman gets an abortion.

The Colorado Springs Gazette (Aug. 25) reported that Sanger attended the event as a favor to its host, Alinda Wikert, daughter of the late Texas multi-millionaire A. G. Hill. Wikert sits on the board of a Texas PP affiliate. She said her family of "pro-choice Republicans" has always financially supported Planned Parenthood.

Sanger, noting that he was there to inspire pro-choice people, said, "You have to go to where the opposition is the strongest and take them on face-to-face. My grandmother did that."

And the opposition wasted no time in striking back. Just six days after the Gazette story, the same paper ran two excellent pro-life letters to the editor that supported Amendment 25. One letter also exposed PP's agenda by quoting Elasah Drogin's book Margaret Sanger, Father of Modern Society.

STOPP supporters are urged to do the same when PP holds any event in your town. Use the event to publicize the truth about PP and organize a picket of the event. As for Alexander, he recently resigned as head of PP of New York City, so he could be free to accept nationwide speaking engagements. Watch out for this death peddler in your town.

Avoiding complicity in Culture of Death

STOPP frequently gets requests from people who wish to avoid doing business with those who support PP, abortion, contraception, fetal tissue research, etc. Here are some resources:

  • A pro-life shopping guide is available from the St. Antoninus Institute. It lists companies one should avoid.

  • Stockholders in tainted companies can divest or file shareholder resolutions to change corporate policy. Pro Vita Advisors can help with this, as they have orchestrated successful anti-PP resolutions at General Mills and Fannie Mae.

  • Institutions wishing to provide health insurance that does not cover abortion or contraception can consult Christus Medicus. Here one can read Bishop Vasa's eye-opening article, "How One Diocese Cleaned Up Health Insurance."

  • People concerned about giving children vaccines developed from aborted babies can sign a petition for ethical vaccines available from Children of God for Life. Currently all U.S. vaccines for Rubella, Chickenpox and Hepatitis-A are produced from cell lines derived from aborted babies.

The Children of God for Life site also reprints The National Catholic Register's recent coverage, which includes commentary from ALL's Judie Brown, theologian Msgr. William Smith, Humanae Vitae scholar Dr. Janet Smith, and Dr. Bernard Nathanson. They do not say parents are complicit in murder because they have a child vaccinated. Mrs. Brown and others, point out the moral need for organized protest aimed at development of untainted vaccines.

  • Those wishing to find pro-life doctors, especially an ob/gyn that is contraceptive free, can consult One More Soul by calling 800-307-7685. Unfortun-ately, such ob/gyns are rare, even at Catholic hospitals. Pro-lifers can encourage such hospitals to make a greater effort to require their ob/gyns not to provide contraceptives.

Those without internet access for the above resources may contact Ed at STOPP headquarters and we will arrange to get you the information by some other means.

Demographic trends in teen fertility

Planned Parenthood's research arm, the Alan Guttmacher Institute, publishes the journal Family Planning Perspectives. The July/Aug. 2000 issue contained a study entitled, "Explaining Demographic Trends in Teenage Fertility, 1980-1995" by Jennifer Manlove, et al.

This study attempts to explain why the birthrate for U.S. adolescents decreased by nearly 18 percent between 1991 and 1998. It tries to resolve the conflicting opinions of the Consortium of State Physicians Resource Councils and the Guttmacher Institute. In 1999, the former claimed abstinence programs are responsible while the latter claimed it was largely due to improved contraceptive use.

Manlove, et al., note that, "The effects of sex education on sexual behavior are difficult to assess, in large part because the content of sex education curricula varies widely, including topics ranging from reproductive health to abstinence education."

Manlove, et al., statistically analyze a wide variety of demographic data collected by the National Survey of Family Growth. They conclude:

"Findings suggest that fostering a stable family environment, promoting discussions between teenagers and their parents, and keeping teenagers engaged in school, as well as discouraging early sexual activity and encouraging use of effective contraceptive methods, may help lower teenage fertility in the United States. In addition, future programs should consider the pregnancy prevention needs of high-risk, sexually experienced teenagers, as well as abstinence promotion for lower-risk adolescents."

While STOPP certainly disagrees with any recommendation that encourages contraceptive use, the others have merit. Note that nothing in this study proves that PP-style sex education reduces teen pregnancy.

Finally, it should be pointed out that there is a dark side to the declining teen birth rate. Mary Beth Bonacci, writing for the Arlington Catholic Herald, (8/24/00, p. 24) said, "According to the Family Research Council, there is indeed something ominous going on. In digging around, they found the following: In 1999, there were 49.6 births for every 1,000 girls age 15-19. That's indeed the lowest rate in 60 years. But, the question remains: how many pregnancies were there? In 1997 (the last year for which we have figures) there were 90.7 pregnancies for every 1,000 girls in the same age group."

What happened between the higher number for pregnancies and the lower number for births? Well, as Bonacci points out, only a small percentage ended in miscarriage, the rest in abortion.

Adolescent sexual behavior

Another study in the July/Aug. issue of Family Planning Perspectives was "Adolescent Sexual Behavior: Estimates and Trends From Four Nationally Representative Surveys." This is a mega study, which attempts to correlate data among four previous surveys.

It begins with a warning that, "Given the difficulties of obtaining valid and reliable data from adolescents about their sexual behavior, survey reports of changes in teenage sexual behavior should be interpreted with care."

Some of the more significant trends supported by the surveys are:

  • The proportion of adolescent males reporting that they ever had sexual intercourse decreased in the 90s.

For example, the youth risk behavior survey had 55.5 percent in 1991 and 46.8 percent in 1997.

  • "These data suggest both increased condom use and decreased pill use over the late 1980s and 1990s." The authors suggest that the data is consistent with a shift from the pill to long-acting hormonal methods (Norplant, Depo-Provera).

It is important to note that while this study reports changes in behavior, it does not show what caused the changes. Thus, it would be misleading for Planned Parenthood to claim that this study proves anything about its programs aimed at adolescents.

Singapore pays to reverse declining birthrate

Last month, The Ryan Report brought you dismal news of the declining birth rates in many countries around the world. One country has taken steps to reverse this tragic trend caused by IPPF and its failed contraceptive mentality. The following excerpts are from the BBC News report of Aug. 21, 2000.

Singapore has announced it will give cash bonuses to parents who have more than one child in an attempt to reverse falling birth rates. Prime Minister Goh Chok Tong said the allowances would be paid to couples having a second or third baby starting from April next year.

Singapore's population is set to shrink from 3.2 million to 2.7 million in the next 50 years-a situation that could damage the economic prosperity of one of the world's richest countries.

STOPP supporters in any of the many countries now facing a birth dearth can use the Singapore example to encourage their governments to do the same and, simultaneously, to reject IPPF efforts to reduce their population.

Sidewalk counselors sue Janet Reno and federal agents

Peaceful, prayerful sidewalk counselors who seek to save lives outside of a Planned Parenthood abortion facility in Kalamazoo, Mich., are taking action against federal agents who threatened them with the Freedom of Access to Clinics Entrances Act (FACE).

According to PR Newswire (Aug. 28), a lawsuit was filed that day by the Thomas More Center for Law & Justice on behalf of pro-lifers who were harassed by federal agents while exercising their constitutional right to free speech. U.S. Attorney General Janet Reno is also named a respondent in the lawsuit.

The Thomas More Center for Law and Justice is a national, not-for-profit public interest law firm located on the campus of the new Ave Maria School of Law in Ann Arbor, Mich. Their clients are seeking a preliminary injunction, which prohibits federal agents from unconstitutionally enforcing FACE against peaceful pro-life demonstrators.

In addition, the pro-lifers are seeking to have a federal court declare FACE unconstitutional on First and Fifth Amendment grounds. They argue that FACE is also unconstitutional because by enacting such a law, Congress overstepped its authority under the commerce clause and under the enforcement clause of the Fourteenth Amendment.

And what were the "crimes" of these good people? Federal agents claim that when people stopped their cars to get information from the sidewalk counselors, the cars obstructed access to the abortion facility. Thus, the counselors violated FACE by being the cause of the obstruction.

While STOPP believes that such an interpretation of FACE is ridiculous, we wish to remind picketers that some law enforcement personnel do attempt to discourage legal picketing by threatening to apply FACE. Therefore, we encourage picketers to be careful not to do anything that might be construed as blocking access. For example, if a car stops in the driveway of a PP facility and the driver wants to have an extended discussion with you, ask him or her to pull out of the driveway to some nearby location so that neither of you can be accused of blocking access. Also, when picketing, try to keep moving on the sidewalk, or, if standing still, be careful to allow room for someone to pass.

It should be emphasized that the pro-lifers initiating this lawsuit were not formally charged with violating FACE. They were simply threatened with being charged. FACE itself is a draconian measure enacted by a culture of death. What is even more tragic is the chilling effect that this law has on pro-life protests that would not violate it.

STOPP contacted the Thomas More Center for Law & Justice and spoke with associate counsel Robert Muise about this case and FACE in general. Mr. Muise invites STOPP supporters who are facing similar situations to contact the Thomas More Center. He said that sometimes all that is needed is for the Thomas More Center to send a letter to the local police department reminding them of the provisions of the Civil Rights Act. If necessary, a "section 1983" action can be pursued.

The Thomas More Center does not charge pro-lifers for defending their rights in such cases. It depends upon donations to help support this work.

The center is a 501(c)3 organization so donations are tax-deductible. Contact the Thomas More Center for Law & Justice at 3475 Plymouth Rd., Suite 100, Ann Arbor, MI 48105-2550. The phone number is 734-827-2001.

STOPP at Rock for Life training

This past summer Ed Szymkkowiak, STOPP's National Director, was invited to give a presentation at Rock for Life's training conference in the beautiful Shenandoah Mountains in Virginia.

Rock for Life is a youth division of American Life League. Chapter leaders from around the country attended for three days of intense pro-life education.

He was delighted to see so many young people conscientiously preparing for leadership roles in the pro-life movement. Ed's presentation focused on fighting Planned Parenthood and gave special emphasis to the eugenic philosophy of its founder, Margaret Sanger.

Rock for Life Director Erik Whittington had this to say about the weekend:

The Rock for Life leadership training weekend was absolutely amazing! Thirty-one eager-to-learn young people from all over the country— as far as Portland, Oregon—met at Brethren Woods near Harrisonburg, Va., for two full days of intensive training. Speakers covered topics such as biology, bioethics, pro-life legislation, the birth control pill, the contraceptive mentality, Planned Parenthood, sidewalk counseling, the history of Rock for Life, and running a Rock for Life chapter.

Also included in the weekend was plenty of time to hang out with the chapter leaders and to come up with new ideas for activism, merchandise and literature.

I am totally convinced that these young pro-life leaders are going to change the course of our nation. These are not just the future leaders, but also the present. In a few years you will see a change in the pro- life movement-a change from a movement built on a crumbling foundation of compromise and weak logic, to one of no exceptions, no compromise and no apologies. You will find that this shift in the movement started here, in a small town called Harrisonburg. The change is going to happen. How soon do you want to be a part of it?

STOPP supporters are urged to invite youth to become active in the fight for life by joining or starting a Rock for Life chapter in their region. For more information visit Rock for Life. It is essential that we inspire and motivate our youth and RFL is the group that can accomplish this. The young are our leaders of this century.

Wisconsin abortions decline after unmasking PP Tours

On Aug. 15, the Beloit Daily News reported that Wisconsin's abortion numbers dropped for the third straight year. In 1999 there were 10,703 surgical abortions, down from 11,322 in 1998. In typical PP-fashion, PP of Wisconsin tried to take credit for the decline by saying it was a result of better sex education.

STOPP has a better explanation. The Missionaries to the Preborn deserve a lot of the credit. Under the leadership of Pastor Matt Trewhella they have been conducting "Unmasking Planned Parenthood Tours" throughout the state, using large signs with pictures of aborted babies and captions such as "Planned Parenthood: Butchers of Mankind."

The tours inspired pro-lifers to faithfully picket and pray before a PP abortion clinic in New London, closing it down in Dec. 1999. Another abortion clinic was closed in Cedarburg. In addition, PP of Wisconsin has lost its place as PP's number one income producing affiliate in America, falling to fifth place.

Once again, STOPP salutes the Missionaries to the Preborn for saving lives. STOPP supporters are urged to organize "Unmasking PP Tours" in their states. For more info, visit the Missionaries' web site at www.missionariestopreborn.com.

Big sign, big lie

STOPP supporters in Concord, Calif., picket the local Planned Parenthood facility every Friday morning. This constant pressure is such an annoyance to Planned Parenthood that they actually had a sign made, which they put up for the picketers.

The banner is huge. It contains the PP logo, and says, "Planned Parenthood is doing more to prevent abortion and unwanted pregnancy than all of the anti-choice groups combined."

This is, of course a lie. PP wants people to believe that if you kill the children early through chemical means that it actually prevents surgical abortion.

Local pro-lifers know the truth, and they have not let PP discourage them. At a recent picket, there were 11 pro-lifers holding signs of their own and praying on the sidewalk. Keep up the good work!

Tactics: The "life-mobile" protest

An effective tactic that can be used, under certain circumstances, to protest PP was dubbed the "life-mobile" protest in one New York town. If a PP facility has roadside parking or public lot parking nearby, STOPP supporters might consider such "life-mobiles."

Basically, cars are legally parked in front of, or near the facility. These vehicles are decked out with pro-life and anti-PP messages and remain there during all or part of the day, even if picketers cannot be present. Here are some suggestions:

  • Cut out pieces of cardboard to fit snugly next to the windows inside the car. Tape or staple the pro-life information and pictures to the cardboard so that when the cardboard is placed in the window the material can be seen from the outside. This allows for quick setup and removal and avoids the problem of tape not sticking to cold or damp windows. When the car is moved, all one needs to do is remove the cardboard and it's ready for the next protest.

  • Use the windows facing the sidewalk for pictures of babies, crisis pregnancy help, prayers and other material appropriate for women entering and leaving the facility.

  • Inside the front, back, and street-side windows place larger messages designed to be seen by passing motorists. This tactic allows the extension of the pro-life presence beyond the period of the average picket. It is not meant to replace picketing, simply to augment it. Also, there are some women who will rush away from picketers but who will stop to read in-car messages if no one is around. A word of warning, once you start this tactic-be prepared to get up early in order to beat irate PP personnel to the best parking spots!

Pro-life lobbyists needed at the UN

International Planned Parenthood Federation uses the United Nations to advance its agenda. Pro-life lobbyists had a major impact at the recent Beijing+5 Conference held at UN headquarters in New York City in the spring of 2000.

Wearing red "Motherhood" buttons while working the conference floor, these lobbyists helped to limit the damage done by the final Beijing+5 document. Radical feminists failed to get language approved that would have forced medical professionals to learn the abortion procedure. The terms "sexual orientation" and "sexual rights" were kept out of the document, as was language that would have enshrined abortion as a "human right."

So effective were the pro-life lobbyists that radical feminists connected to the European Parliament complained that "fundamentalist" youth had taken over the conference youth caucus and that pro-life activities were "paralyzing" the "progressive" work being done.

STOPP congratulates those who volunteered to be lobbyists at the Beijing+5 conference and we urge our supporters to consider volunteering for the World Summit for Children (WSC) Preparatory Committee conference in New York City coming up Jan. 29-Feb. 2, 2001.

World Life League, a division of American Life League, warns that at the WSC there will be attempts to undermine parental authority by establishing a "rights based" approach to advance the welfare of children in areas such as reproductive rights and sex education. These measures will extend the state's power over the lives of children at the expense of parents' rights.

If you are interested in coming to New York City for training and lobbying, contact World Life League's director, Mark DeYoung, at 540-659-4171.

Diocese stops PP contractor

The Catholic Diocese of Buffalo halted construction on a $4.6 million home for seniors in Wheatfield, N.Y., when it found out the contractor, Calamar Enterprises, was also building offices for PP (Buffalo News, 8/13/00).

Bishop Henry J. Mansell's spokesman, Monsignor David M. Lee, said the bishop and other diocesan officials decided to put the project on hold because of "moral concerns."

"We're not proceeding, because of the contractor's involvement with Planned Parenthood," said Monsignor Henry J. Gugino, head of housing development for the diocese. The diocese is looking for another contractor.

Planned Parenthood of Niagara County President Shelly Stuchell said, "It's a shame that anybody would let something like this affect a business decision." She said PP has no current plans to provide abortions at its new facility, also in Wheatfield, scheduled to open later this year (where have we heard that before?).

STOPP commends Bishop Mansell for this courageous decision. It is an excellent example of how diligent we must be in keeping our business and financial decisions "clean."

STOPP supporters can thank the bishop by writing him at: 795 Main St., Buffalo, NY 14203. Let him know that he is in your prayers and that his courage has helped you in your fight against Planned Parenthood.

Hilton Head PP clinic closes

Praise God, Planned Parenthood's clinic in Hilton Head, S.C., closed down on July 14 after disserving the community for more than 15 years. The CEO of PP of South Carolina said, "It wasn't cost effective."

A local STOPP supporter attributes the closing to prayer, some letters to the editor using data from the Ryan Report, and the efforts of Dr. Vera Bailey. Dr. Bailey runs the local crisis pregnancy center which opened about 10 years ago.

About five years ago, the PP clinic, which was very near the school, ran into some opposition when it became active in a newly created pregnancy prevention committee. Local pro-lifers also obtained positions on the committee and managed to bog down its liberal agenda to such a degree that it was disbanded.

When asked about the reaction to the PP closing, one of the volunteers at the crisis pregnancy center said, "We were jumping up and down with excitement." STOPP congratulates all those who helped close this facility.

Just because PP has been in your community for many years doesn't mean it can't be closed down. These wonderful pro-lifers have proved that persistence joined with prayer can succeed.

We encourage all STOPP supporters to fight every PP clinic.

Watch out for UNICEF

Each year on Halloween, kids around the country are given the task of collecting money for the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF). Parents should be aware that this is not a good organization.

UNICEF works closely with another United Nations group-the UNFPA, which pushes family planning and other Planned Parenthood style activities around the world. Through its contacts with the UNFPA, UNICEF actually works to reduce the number of children in the world and increases chemical abortions. Many groups who have supported UNICEF in the past do not do so now.

STOPP supporters should encourage children not to collect for UNICEF.

This month's action items

  • Fight any effort to get mandatory insurance coverage of birth control passed in your state.

  • Let McDonald's know that, although they do not sponsor PP, they should at least issue a statement that they wish their gift certificates were not used in connection with PP condom distribution.

  • Fight any efforts to impose sex education on your children. Use STOPP's book Parent Power!! To rid your schools of offensive programs.

  • Use the resources listed on page 3 to become an informed consumer and make sure your purchasing dollar is used to support wholesome corporations.

  • Consider sponsoring an "Unmasking Planned Parenthood Tour" in your state. Contact Missionaries to the Preborn for information and to get on the schedule for next summer.

  • Schedule a talk about Planned Parenthood in your community. STOPP now has two expert speakers to assist you. Since Ed Szymkowiak just recently joined our staff after many years of fighting PP, his schedule is currently wide open. To arrange for a talk by either Ed or Jim, call 540-659-4171. Ask for Rozann.

  • Send a tax-deductible donation today to help us keep fighting Planned Parenthood.

  • Pray that God will lead us in our work and that we will always have the courage to do His will. If your local school or church is advocating the collections, inform them of the problems with UNICEF.
