Release UPDATE '99 | |
(Washington) -- Deputy
Secretary of Defense, John J. Hamre will be the keynote speaker at the
Department's Update '99 scheduled for July 13 and 14 at the J. W. Marriott
in Washington, DC. Hamre will speak at Tuesday's luncheon which begins at
noon. He will address the changes necessary to prepare American exporters
for the next millennium. The 12th Annual Update is sponsored by the Bureau
of Export Administration.
Over 750 business leaders, exporters and government officials will participate in the two days of seminars and meetings with topics including: the recently updated controls for exports of high performance computers, continued work on multilateral nonproliferation regimes, interagency license review process, the expected publication of new exporter of record regulations and an update on the Licensing and Enforcement Action Program (LEAP). Seminars scheduled for the conference are designed to provide participants opportunities to discuss information technology export controls, electronic submissions of licenses and export clearances, nonproliferation and country export policies and a variety of enforcement issues. There will also be opportunities to visit with the 15 vendors participating in the BXA Expo and with senior Commerce officials who will be available throughout the two day conference.
