SUMMARY:
Committee Serial No. 34. Hearing before the Subcom on Courts and Intellectual Property to consider H.R. 850 (text, p. 1-6), the Security and Freedom Through Encryption (SAFE) Act, to amend the Export Administration Act of 1979 to liberalize export controls on software with encryption capabilities used to protect the security of computer network data, and affirm the right of U.S. persons to use and sell encryption.
