SUMMARY:
Hearings to consider S. 1712, the
Export Administration Act of 1999, to reauthorize and revise the
export control system established under the expired
Export Administration Act of 1979.
Includes provisions to:
a. Authorize the President to impose
export controls for national security purposes.
b. Exempt from
export control requirements certain dual-use technologies with military and civilian
applications.
