Do unilateral sanctions work? The evidence is clear. They do not. Unilateral sanctions hurt American farmers, workers and companies. They make martyrs out of our targets.

Under current law, Americans cannot access key markets in Cuba. But our foreign competitors have free reign. We are handing over these markets to those competitors on a silver platter.

And while dictators in countries like Cuba get what they need – their citizens do not.

It’s time to stop using the embargo as a weapon of diplomacy. Tell Congress to end these ineffective unilateral sanctions now.

This is Tom Donohue….speaking for business.
