Statement by Commerce Secretary Don Evans on Meeting with Steel Industry CEOs

Washington, DC - "We are concerned about market conditions in the international arena including global overcapacity and market distorting practices such as subsidies and anticompetitive practices."

"Today's meeting was very productive and we will continue to move forward working in consultation with Congress and the U.S. industry to identify possible government approaches to address the industry's problems with our trading partners."
