Graham "Extremely Pleased" With AARP's Commitment
to Passage of Graham-Miller-Kennedy Prescription Benefit
July 16, 2002
Washington (July 16, 2002) - Senator Bob Graham, D-Florida, today
commented on AARP's efforts to win passage of the Graham-Miller-Kennedy bill,
which would add a prescription drug benefit to Medicare.
"I am extremely pleased to hear that America's largest organization of
older Americans, AARP, is committed to the passage of the Graham-Miller-Kennedy
prescription drug benefit to Medicare beneficiaries.
"Clearly AARP is speaking for the interest of its members - those
Americans who will benefit most directly from our legislation. It is a testament
to both the need for a prescription drug benefit and the strength of our
legislation that we have the support of more than 35 million older Americans."
