We applaud President Bush for his leadership to help seniors and Americans with disabilities get the good health care and drug coverage they need. We look forward to reviewing the details of his proposals.

For more than two years, the pharmaceutical industry has supported strengthening and improving Medicare, by expanding access to drug coverage for seniors and fostering competition among private plans to ensure quality and help contain health care costs. We look forward to working with President Bush and the Congress to expand access to prescription drug coverage. It's important that legislation be enacted this year, preferably in the context of overall Medicare reform.
