Given that this measure relates to possible future terrorist attacks, we can only hope it's never needed. But it's a critically important safety net in place if the threat arises. It's a measured, common-sense approach that will help ensure construction sites continue to operate, workers continue to fuel our nation's economic engine, and the threat of future attacks on our economy is minimized. It certainly wasn't easy, but I'm proud that we ultimately were able to respond in a bipartisan fashion to meet this pressing challenge. Our nation will be stronger because of this bill.
